Illinois has enacted tougher laws over the past several years cracking down on Illinois motorists. Due to these tougher laws, Illinois motorists need to contact an attorney to defend them. Under Illinois law an individual can only receive court supervision on two moving violation tickets in a 12-month period. If the individual is over 21 years old, three convictions received in a 12 month period will result in a suspended license. If you are under 21, only two convictions for moving violations in a 24-month period will result in a suspended license.

An individual is disqualified from driving a commercial motor vehicle for a period of not less than 2 months if convicted of 2 serious traffic violations, committed in a commercial or non-commercial motor vehicle, arising from separate incidents, occurring within a 3 year period.
An individual will be disqualified from driving a commercial motor vehicle for a period of not less than 4 months if convicted of 3 serious traffic violations, committed in a commercial or non-commercial motor vehicle, arising from separate incidents, occurring within a 3 year period.
Receiving court supervision on a serious traffic violation will NOT prevent the Illinois Secretary of State from suspending / revoking your CDL. The violation needs to be amended to a non-serious violation and you receive court supervision for the Illinois Secretary of State not to suspend/revoke your CDL.
A common mistake individuals make is to pay a fine by mail. Many times by doing this you are agreeing to a conviction when you might have been able to get the violation dismissed or obtained supervision. Call me first. I will advise you on the appropriate action.
